Housing prices in North Carolina have been soaring since the COVID-19 pandemic, even as income inequality persists.
According to Zillow, there are around 400 recent home listings across the state for more than $1 million.
Here’s a look at some of the most expensive homes posted to Zillow over the past two weeks.
$5.5 million Waxhaw mansion
This stunning mansion was just put on the market Thursday. One of the mansion’s best features is a grand staircase with brass railing that looks like something straight out of a fairytale.
The estate was built by businessman Donald Storms and his wife Ruth. According to Michael Abernethy, real estate agent with Abernethy Properties, the couple used to work for Amway. In 2005, the property was purchased by Cress Horne, owner of U.S. Helicopters. He lived there until he died in 2020.
The home comes with nearly 17 acres of land and 18,828 square feet of livable space.
The property has an orchard, greenhouse, gazebo and workshop.
$7 million home for sale in Cornelius
This estate, still under construction along Lake Norman, features a unique Spanish style with a courtyard, outdoor pool and sandy beach.
The mansion has five bedrooms and five bathrooms and is 7,652 square feet.
$5.7 million horse farm for sale in White Oak
This farm is known for its world-class Arabian horse facilities, according to a Zillow listing.
It has 66 horse stalls in a state-of-the-art brick & block barn.
The main home is being sold with the barn, the listing says, along with 350 acres of land.
“The facility comprises a breeding operation, a training center, offices, living quarters above main barn and several other well thought out structures,” Zillow said.
$5.4 million farm in Waynesville
The Tranquility Farm, located in the rolling hills of Waynesville, comes with more than 48 acres of land, according to a Zillow listing.
The property features a waterfall, a gazebo, a pasture and woods.
The idyllic home on the property is 3,800 square foot, one-story tall residence with a wrap-around front porch.
The property is only minutes away from downtown Waynesville.
$4.9 million modern farm house in Sapphire
This home posted on Zillow Thursday is nestled in the mountains with stunning views.
Built in 2018, the farmhouse has a more modern style. Hiking trails are only feet away from the property.
The bright and inviting space is more than 5,000 square feet and has four bedrooms.
